J.N. Swanson 1927 – 2014 Jack Swanson was born in 1927 in Duluth, Minnesota to Margaret and Leonard Swanson. The family moved frequently during the Great Depression, and in 1942 came to Oakland, California. Teen-aged Jack headed south to work on at the Dry Creek

Art of the West from the private collections of Valley residents

Edward Borein (1872-1945), was the Santa Barbara artist nicknamed “the cowpuncher artist” by his friends and colleagues.

This exhibit, comprised of Borein art from the private collections of Santa Ynez Valley residents and special collections from the Santa Barbara Historical Museum, will provide the viewing public an opportunity to see the wide variety of artistic accomplishments achieved by Edward Borein – from his prolific etchings that he is best known for to his vivid watercolors and rare oil paintings of the American West.
